About
Who is behind this blog?
My name is Saad Ali.
I am a Sr. DevOps/Site Reliability Engineer with roots in Linux/BSD System Administration and 12+ years of experience. I have worked with different development teams deploying different web application stacks written in languages such as PHP, Ruby, Python on UNIX-like systems at scale.
I am passionate about designing, deploying, and managing scalable, reliable, and secure cloud infrastructure for web applications and services.
I have extensive experience with AWS, CloudFormation, Terrafrom, Ansible, Jenkins, ArgoCD, Docker, and Kubernetes, as well as various open source tools and frameworks for network and systems monitoring, security, and automation (Bash and Python). I am also CKAD certified (expires on May 15, 2026). I enjoy collaborating with development teams to streamline the deployment process, create automated pipelines, and assist in optimizing the performance and availability of the applications. I am always eager to learn new technologies and best practices.
Why do you write this blog?
I believe this blog to be way of giving back to the community.
Why are your blog posts delayed?
I am busy. I do a lot of things. I have a lot on my mind. Different permutations of different projects that keep lingering around in my mind. I need to settle those down to some point (probably in some GitHub repository) before I pick up anything else in my free time. Even though I think I have a lot to write about, blogging is the least of my priorities at the moment because it requires careful typing and no gramamtical mistakes (yes there are many in my blog posts, I am too lazy to fix them). Yes, LLMs have made this process easier for many people (which is why a whole lot of people on LinkedIn have gone crazy). But LLMs halucinate. I hate it when they do that which is why I like to take my time when writing about something that is technical.
Aside from having a technical brain, I have to have a husband and a dad brain. I have a wife and 3 beautiful daughters and I want to take care of them too. Listen to what they are saying or look at what they are doing.
Hence, delays. Often years at a time.
